Year in Review: Our Favorite Highlights from 2019

Can you believe 2019 is already over? We sure can’t! While we’re so excited to find out what 2020 will bring for AIFP, we wanted to take a moment to highlight some of our biggest wins and favorite company moments from last year!

AIFP 2019 Growth Highlights

AIFP has the largest trading floor in North America, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t continually striving to grow and improve our business, whether it be hiring new commodity traders or increasing our departmental sales. Here’s some of our company growth highlights from 2019.

2019 Sales Growth

In 2019, five of our eight departments experienced sales growth. Not only did the Canadian Department, US Lumber, Southern Yellow Pine, and Plywood all increase their sales counts, but three of those departments also increased their footage sales from last year.

2019 Trader Successes

We couldn’t be prouder of the hard work our traders do day-in and day-out, and we’re so excited to recognize the traders who had their personal best trading years. Congratulations to Jeff Hoggard, Matt Kolar, Kyle McWhirter, and Joan Musch who set new sales records for themselves!

2019 Recruiting

We’re always on the lookout for potential commodity traders, and this year, we hit the Oregon universities hard with quarterly recruiting events at Portland State University, University of Oregon, and Oregon State University.

AIFP’s Holiday Hoedown

Celebrating holidays in the workplace is one of our favorite company traditions at AIFP. This year, our annual holiday party took place at Irving Street Studio in the EcoTrust Building in Portland on December 11^th. The theme of the party was a hoedown, and in addition to delicious food, fun photo booths, and party music, AIFP president John Vranizan took time to recognize some impressive employee milestones.

Portland Spirit Cruise

As a Portland-based company, we love engaging with the local community. One of our favorite annual events is the Portland Spirit Cruise, where our employees and their guests enjoy a ride down the Willamette River on the Crystal Dolphin. In addition to hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and breathtaking views of the Willamette Valley, our team was able to spend time together outside of the office and explore all that great city of Portland has to offer.

1^st Annual Go-Kart Competition

At AIFP, we think a little healthy competition is a good thing, and our go-kart extravaganza was a great way for our employees to blow off some steam and compete against one another for bragging rights. Whenever we get together outside the office, we have a great time, and this go-kart getaway was just another successful team bonding activity for the books.
