Building Connections: AIFP’s Summer Travel Recap

company culture

It’s safe to say that we’ve had a pretty busy summer—and it’s not even over yet! In today’s blog, we’re highlighting some of our recent company travel so you can get a better idea of who we are, what we do, and what we’re all about at AIFP!

Customer, Supplier, and Reload Visits

While our commodity trading team spends a lot of time on the trading floor, summer is a time to embrace the face-to-face and make the rounds. That’s why the AIFP trading team has been travelling across North America connecting with our bulk lumber and steel customers, building material suppliers, and reloads. Whether it’s Reno, Nevada; Fontana California; or British Columbia, Canada, AIFP loves the opportunity to travel around building stronger relationships with our partners and learning more about their unique business needs and what we can do to meet them.

Building Material Conferences

Even though we love taking the time to visit individual mills and customers, there’s something special about attending building material conferences. During these events, we get to talk with a range of current and potential customers, connect with steel and lumber suppliers, and learn more about industry trends that can help us grow our business and better serve our partners. This summer, our team members attended the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association (MLMA) Convention and Trade Show in Biloxi, MS, the Umpqua Valley Lumber Association (UVLA) Milll Week, and the North American Wholesale Lumber Association (NAWLA) Portland Regional Meeting

Lumber Industry Events

Work Hard Play Hard is our motto for a reason, and we truly believe that you can’t have one without the other. While events like the Hoo Hoo International Golf Tournament gives us a chance to engage in some friendly and fun competition, we also love the opportunity to share some of our expertise. Ken Timmins, Jeff Hoggard, and Matthew Sahebi hosted a webinar about building components for NAWLA this July, which connected NAWLA members with information about analyzing diverse geographic markets to make smart buying decisions. Some of our lumber traders also attended the Forest City Trading Group (FCTG) X2 Trader Development event, which focuses on elevating customer service and fostering business growth. Our traders Justin Binning and Ken Timmins have also stayed busy recording the Lumber Connection podcast with SBCA, where they discuss and analyze the latest trends in the North American lumber markets.
