We’ve all seen the memes and have first-hand experience with the unique challenges of 2020. While we understand and are sensitive to the hardships and grief so many people continue to experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, we do want to take a moment to celebrate the hard work of our employees and the wins we’ve achieved together as a company.
2020 was a challenging year, but our team was up to the challenge. Not only were they flexible with our new work-from-home policy, but they also found a way to help keep our company culture strong in the midst of the pandemic. Here are some AIFP highlights from 2020!
All thanks due to our business relationships with our customers and mills, AIFP had a record year in trading.
Company culture is incredibly important to AIFP. While cultivating a healthy company culture became more challenging during the pandemic, our traders found a way to develop new teambuilding traditions during this time by creating a monthly golf league. On the last Friday of every month, our traders safely play a round of golf at different local golf course, bonding them together as a team and helping support local businesses.
We’re always on the lookout for great candidates to go through our 24-month paid trader training program, which is why we continue to partner with U of O and OSU for recruiting events. This year, we sponsored and/or participated in virtual career fairs and business school events, including “speed dating”, resume workshops, and sales academy meetings. It’s an honor to work with these college students as their schooling ends and they start their search for the right sales jobs for their futures.
Volunteering is a big part of our company culture, and while in-person volunteering is bit trickier this year, we still found ways to continue our efforts to give back to the community. Not only did we participate in a giving tree for St. Mary’s Home for Boys, which is one of our favorite annual holiday traditions, but we also held a back-to-school drive for the boys and offered financial support to the Oregon Food Bank.
In addition to our work-related triumphs, we’re particularly excited for our employees with family milestones to celebrate. In 2020, two AIFP employees welcomed a child and one other employee announced a pregnancy. We’re so happy for our team members who are growing their families!
