A Season for Giving Back

One of our core values? Giving back to our community. We’re proud to be a part of the Greater Portland, OR community and want to make a positive impact. That’s why corporate philanthropy is so important to our company and our values.

How We Give Back

Each year, we organize a host of events and initiatives designed to help the local community. This time of year, with holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas in full swing, we take extra care to create a culture of giving and gratitude. Read on to learn about the activities we planned this season.

One Warm Coat Drive

Have you ever heard of the One Warm Coat Drive? We organize one every year, and the donated items go to a different charity each year. This year, we distributed all donated items to the Good Neighbor Center in Tigard, OR. The Good Neighbor Center is a great organization dedicated to providing emergency housing and services for the homeless.

Throughout the entire month of October, we collected donations of blankets, jackets, gloves, hats, and scarves. At the end of the month, all of these warming items were donated to the Good Neighbor Center. This year, we collected 62 coats and 17 blankets. Way to go, AIFP team.

Gift Giving for the St. Mary’s Home for Boys

Throughout the entire year, we are very involved with the St. Mary’s Home for Boys. This summer, we enjoyed a summer BBQ with the boys and all had a blast. This fall, AIFP employees chose gifts for each of the boys, based on the boys’ needs and preferences. We’ll be delivering the gifts in mid-December. The boys always love what they receive, and it’s great to be able to make them feel extra special over the holiday season.

Natural Disaster Donations

In the wake of the recent hurricanes and wildfires that have hit the US, our parent company, Forest City Trading Group, has been encouraging all of its companies and their employees to donate to those affected. If you’re interested in donating, too, consider giving back to the American Red Cross. Every amount counts, no matter how large or small.

Ongoing Initiatives

Year-round, we collect personal care and beauty products for shelters in the area through Recycle Beauty. We started participating in this charity last year and plan to participate again in 2018!
